Arbroath has confirmed the appointment of Colin Hamilton and David Gold as permanent co-player managers. The pair took interim charge at Gayfield following the departure of Jim McIntyre last month, after a poor start to the season left the side bottom of League 1. And they've made a great start, with the team unbeaten since they took to the dugout, including a 3-0 win over Montrose in the Challenge Cup last weekend. Hamilton, who returned for his second spell at Arbroath in 2016, and Gold – who joined the club in 2015 – have more than 500 combined appearances for the Angus side. David Gold told Arbroath's website, 'I think as a coach, you always hope to one day manage the club that you love and where you’ve spent so much of your career.' The new duo will take full charge of the team in time for Saturday’s trip to fourth-placed Queen of the South. The club said in a statement, 'Since taking charge of team affairs, we have collectively been extremely impressed by the level of commitment and attention to detail put in by both to take Arbroath FC forward.' Everyone associated with Arbroath Football Club looks forward to a successful future with Colin and David at the helm. They wish them well in their new roles. Colin Hamilton and David Gold have a big task ahead, but they're ready for the challenge.
