Loan Move Details
Celtic midfielder Jude Bonnar has joined Arbroath on a season-long loan in the Scottish Championship. The 26-year-old becomes the second Celtic midfielder to depart on loan this summer, following Kyle Ure’s move to Crewe Alexandra. Bonnar, who previously spent time on loan at Ayr United, will wear the number 23 jersey for the Red Lichties.
Arbroath's Ambitions
Arbroath, currently eighth in the Championship after two games (1 draw, 1 defeat), aim to build on their third-place finish last season. The club, co-managed by David Gold and Colin Hamilton, lost the Premiership play-offs to Dunfermline in a two-leg tie. Bonnar’s arrival adds experience to a squad hoping to challenge for the title or progress further in the play-offs.
Bonnar's Track Record
Bonnar made 30 appearances for Ayr United last term, scoring once and providing two assists as they finished seventh. His loan move to Arbroath marks another opportunity to establish himself in the Scottish Championship. The midfielder’s technical skills and playmaking ability could bolster Arbroath’s attacking options as they seek to improve on their 2025 campaign.
