With the new Scottish football season in full swing, fans across the country will be eagerly anticipating traditional matchday treats like pies and burgers. However, how many of these food outlets, stadium kiosks, and hospitality establishments are up to scratch when it comes to hygiene standards? A recent review by Food Standards Scotland has revealed that several clubs are still awaiting inspections or have been given a 'red card' for their food hygiene practices.

Scottish Premiership

In the top tier of Scottish football, Rangers fans can expect to see some changes at Ibrox. The club's hospitality and kiosks, operated by Elior, remain uninspected as of now. Meanwhile, the Black Rooster Peri Peri outlet at Ibrox has been given an 'Improvement Required' warning following a November 2022 inspection.

Other clubs like Falkirk FC are also awaiting inspections for their food outlets and kiosks. St Mirren's Pie Sports and St Johnstone's Pie Sports both passed their inspections, while Aberdeen's BaxterStorey and Sodexo kiosks were found to be in good standing as well.

Scottish Championship

Greenock Morton fans should take note that the GMFC Hospitality outlet at Cappielow has been given an 'Improvement Required' warning. Additionally, three more clubs in this league are awaiting inspections due to a backlog of cases at Food Standards Scotland.

Partick Thistle's Boss Catering is one such example, with its contract ending in July 2026. Other clubs like Ayr United and Dunfermline Athletic have passed their inspections, while Arbroath FC and Queen's Park are still awaiting theirs.

Scottish League One

Alloa Athletic's J&S Catering has been given an 'Improvement Required' warning as a mobile caterer at the club. Three other outlets in this league are also awaiting inspections.

Clubs like Hamilton Academical, East Kilbride, and Ross County have passed their inspections, while Airdrieonians, Cove Rangers, and Peterhead's Coffee Shop at Balmoor all remain unscathed by any hygiene issues.

Scottish League Two

The lowest tier of the SPFL has a better food hygiene record compared to its higher leagues. However, two clubs-Annan Athletic and Edinburgh City-are currently without inspection results.

Elgin City's Moray Leisure Centre and The Spartans both passed their inspections, while Clyde's Hamilton Community Stadium mobile caterer is still awaiting an inspection. Forthbank Stadium Food to Go at Stirling Albion also passed its inspection.
