Arbroath's recent struggles continued with a 3-0 defeat away to Partick Thistle in the Scottish Championship on Saturday. The loss leaves the Lichties sixth in the table, now 11 points behind leaders Stenhousemuir after eight games.
Brian Stanway's early double for the hosts set the tone. He opened the scoring after just eight minutes, finishing a move created by Scott Drozd, and added a second from another Drozd assist in the 20th minute. Arbroath's afternoon was compounded by a yellow card for Scott Mackie five minutes later.
Second half changes
Manager Dick Campbell made a triple substitution between the 67th and 68th minutes, bringing on Craig Daly, Gavin Reilly and David Reid. The changes failed to stem the tide, however, as Partick defender Lee Ashcroft headed in a third from an Owen Smyth cross with 20 minutes remaining. A late yellow card for Scott Constable completed a frustrating day for the visitors.
The result extends a difficult run of form for Arbroath, who have now lost three of their last five league matches. They will look to bounce back next Saturday when they host Morton at Gayfield.
